Job Opening:

Christ on Capitol Hill seeks a part-time Church Musician to provide musical leadership at the organ and/or piano at all regularly scheduled Sunday services* (except as indicated below), all church holidays and for occasional, additional services during the year.
The Church Musician is a one-fourth-time (an average of 10 hours per week) position.
* In the beginning, Sundays will be shared with our current organist as he moves into semi-retirement. Also, the Jazz Ensemble plays one Sunday a month.

Duties of the Position Include

1) Support the voice of the assembly in making music.
2) Collaborate with the Pastor and Choir Director in worship and music planning. Regularly communicate with staff, including the office manager. Participate in staff meetings (as schedule permits) and the Worship, Music, and the Arts (WMA) team.
2) Provide accompaniment for the Soli Deo Gloria choir - rehearsals and worship.
3) Spend time in weekly practice of music for worship.
4) Report to the office manager and WMA team regarding the condition and needs for the maintenance of the organ and pianos. Arrange for regular maintenance and tuning.
5) Secure skilled substitutes as needed.
6) Practice with and accompany those sharing musical offerings.
Additional opportunities
1) Opportunity to play for weddings and funerals as availability permits. Compensation for these services is ordinarily paid by families directly according to a fee schedule established in consultation with the pastor.

We have a choir that sings twice a month in Khmer (Cambodian language), currently accompanied by our organist.
Jazz Ensemble plays once a month and sometimes on holidays.

Sunday Morning

Generally scheduled once per month - contact the office at 651-222-3619 if you're interested!

* Tasks with a star by them are in greatest need of more people.

*Coffee Preparer:  Prepare the coffee & tea set-up for Sunday mornings, usually done on Fridays.

*Greeters: Greet people before worship, welcome visitors and guide people to the worship area.

*Ushers: Greet people, hand out worship guides, take offering and guide people to communion.

*Soundboard Operators: Operate sound system during worship. We will train volunteers, let us know if you're interested.

English Reader: Read the lessons of the week during worship.

Khmer Reader: Read a lesson or Gospel in Khmer during worship.

Tigrinia Reader: Read a lesson or Gospel in Tigrinia during worship.

Spanish Reader: Read a lesson or Gospel in Spanish during worship.  

Communion Set-up: Place all items for communion out prior to worship. Also rotate assisting with set-up for holiday worship services.

Communion Bread Provider: Bake/bring the bread for communion on Sunday morning.

Communion Servers:
Assist with distribution of communion during worship.

*Communion Clean-up: Wash communion cups and items and put away after worship.

Prayer Ministers: This group of people prays for people as requested. They also pray with people at the altar during Communion the 2nd Sunday of every month.  

Counters: Help count and record the offering after the service.

Worship Leader: Assist the Pastor in worship by leading the welcome, prayers, and creed.

Education Hour

Sunday School Teacher: Teach or co-teach Sunday School; grades grouped as pre-K and K, 1st & 2nd, 3rd - 5th & 6th - 8th grades.
